Oakland Glass
(UK)

Picture
Oakland Glass the long established high volume residential IGU manufacturer based in Dewsbury West Yorkshire starts production of the new Cooltemper FireJet full convection furnace.

The new FireJet replaced a similar sized furnace over the Christmas shutdown period and was fully operational by January 5th. In Just two and a half weeks Cooltemper had removed the old machine, installed the new FireJet, set up the glass recipes and trained the operators.

Able to produce in two shifts what the old furnace did in three shifts, and at the same time improve product quality, this new Cooltemper FireJet has had a major positive impact on Oakland Glasses core business.

The new furnace also incorporates the Cooltemper CIC production reporting system into the windows based IPC controls. The CIC offers product analysis including product throughput reporting, breakdown by substance thickness / coating type, electrical power usage plus overall production availability per shift/day/week etc.

Vitrum Glass
(Canada)

Vitrum Glass Group, one of Canada’s largest & most respected glass manufacturers based in Vancouver, Canada recently upgraded one of their existing Cooltemper Jetstream 108” wide tempering ovens  to a Cooltemper FireJet full convection furnace. The furnace was originally installed in 2005. After 10 years of uninterrupted production the decision was made to upgrade the oven section of the machine with the newer FireJet full convection technology offered by Cooltemper.

The Cooltemper FireJet system offers a number advantages over its competitors including energy efficiency, speed of production and quality for both clear float and soft-coated low-e glass products. Vitrum tempers a wide range of glass products for commercial applications and it was very important to have a tempering solution that could handle a variety of glass thicknesses and coating types.

"Get a virtually perfect reflection, without compromising strength, optical distortion or safety."

From start to finish the FireJet upgrade, including new operating software, took three weeks to complete. The FireJet convection upgrade allows Vitrum to produces 30% more product then the old oven system it replaced. Running float glass at 30 second/mm and soft-coat glass at 40 second/mm. Vitrum is currently achieving 29 loads/hr on 4mm clear float and 21 loads/hr on soft-coated low-e glass.

The new furnace is fitted with a LiteSentry Osprey glass distortion monitoring system which has highlighted the product quality improvements over a full range of glass types since the upgrade.
